Ace‘s Sweet Bullet |

“My name is Stephanie John and I live in WV. I wanted to say that I really did not know that much about the Heritage horses until now but I was in love with the Buds Sterling Bullet from photos and reading about him on the link to Brown's farm. Even though I must admit I was a little skeptical about the whole Heritage horse being different from most of the newer bloodlines of Tennessee Walkers, I am now convinced that there really is something different about these old blooded horses. My boy is not a fully certified Heritage horse because of his mother's side but, she is also an awesome horse with really old bloodlines. So he is considered an "out cross" as you know. Buddy really amazes me daily because he is so calm and smart and gentle. He is a delight to have in my life. I love him and he is proving so easy to train. I told his breeder Gwen that I do believe that Buddy was born an old soul! He is so sensible and good with people. I am convinced that I will invest in Heritage horses in the future. I think that I enjoy Buddy so much because he is less work and more play because he does learn so fast and I feel he is just going to make a wonderful family horse. “ |

Stryper |

Much Thanks to Tara of Shelbyville, KY on purchasing our fine boy! Stryper is now standing stud in TN for 2010! |

“Just wanted to let you know, Stryper is doing great!! He is a keeper. Once I got him broke enough for Josh to enjoy. He is really filling out and coming to his self. On the trail he is a perfect gentleman, some people say they can't believe he is a stallion. He never nickers or anything. And you talk about solid and will go ANYWHERE in the trails. He will go up or down anything, he has no hesitation. Last Sunday we were at a spot where we all play. It is a rock slide and when the horses hit it there is no stopping, they slide FAST to the bottom. Josh brought Stryper off and he made it look easier than the aged horses. He never gets excited, he takes his time and is very careful. And you would not believe the stamina he has, he can go all day.“ ~ Tara |

Maple is doing very well, I have started her under saddle (although I wont put weight on her for a while yet) She is still responding very well to the hackamore although I intend to start her out on a bit soon. Her back end is really close to that of our 15.2 TWH now and I think she might even have him by a little bit. I am really excited to see how big she'll get and be able to start riding her. The weather here has been too cold to ride much as well, only got up to 28 today and we've had a lot of days like that lately. I've been trying to work with her but the cold has cut me back to just a few times a week. She has really come a long way as far as being social, she seems to prefer my company over her pasture mates when I'm around and has developed a liking for peppermints (maybe a little too much!). She is so calm around things she doesn't know, it makes me so happy that she doesn't have that deep rooted fear like some. I was cleaning out the trough the other day and my QH took off when I stood it up, Maple came over started checking it out and even pushed it back over for me. She is such a great horse and a fast learner and I have really been enjoying the process of bonding with her and teaching her. I am glad he trusts me to do right by her and I hope he knows that she will have a home with me until the day she dies. ~ Lindsey |

She lets me put my arms around her head and kiss her nose, like JL does, and LOVES to have me play with her ears. I brushed out her forelock, mane and tail today; tomorrow I will scissor-clip some of the muddy fetlock hair off. She definitely likes the Mrs. Pasture's horse cookie treats that I give her just before I leave, but she wouldn't have anything to do with the peppermint I put in her feed bucket. I will have Mary take some pictures tomorrow! She is going out at night (less bugs) with the herd. Marilyn and Tia will be added Wednesday night, so we'll see how that works out. BJ is LOVING being the herd boss gelding - sweet talks each mare, one by one. Amazing to watch him in action. Sonny and Dan are permanently in the geriatric turnout. They have three water buckets, six piles of hay scattered all over, and three places to retreat to, to avoid the other, and no other horse close to mess with them. Take care, and thank you from the bottom of my heart /for this wonderful mare! This truly was a match between us that was meant to be. I really love her! Again, thank you for this jewel of a mare.” Joann |

Patrick Thank you to Angela and family in OH “I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that Patrick made it home safe and sound. Jason stopped by and let the kids and I visit with him. He was so sweet and loved being doted on by the kids who couldn't get enough of him. Jason said he was an absolute angel for the entire ride and unloading (not that we expected anything else). |

Hi Gwen, It was a long trip but Lucia arrived safe and sound at home 2 hours ago. We met her yesterday at the airport in Houston. She was totally cool and as expected. Oscar is tickled pink with her. He stayed in her crate (with a mini donkey, mini pony + RMH) during take off, landing and we checked several times offering hay and water. She was not scared and very calm. We arrived at the airport this morning where she had 2 more hours of rest in a stall before continuing her trip to Belgium. Now she is in the pasture and has a paddock with stall available. She seems quiet and content. “This afternoon she was tired and slept in the pasture. I accompanied her and sad on her back while she was laying down. She is so sweet! I will give her some time to adjust to our strange hay and feed before we go to work.” ~ Sandra
Top right picture was taken prior to loading in Oklahoma. Bottom right photo taken in Belgium at her new home! |

“I never thought to ask you if she was used to a flymask, but since the flies here are horrible right now, I tried it on her today. I did start very slowly just in case it was new to her. Guess you did have her in one, because she lowered her head when I asked, and didn't even flinch when I put it on. She'll be much happier with no flies on her face! I picked her feet today; she held all four up for me. So many small successes today had me feeling like a John Lyons clone, so I decided to try one more thing....citronella fly spray on her legs. I see you've done that too; she stood still like a champ. I was trying to take pictures today, but when I went to the opposite end of her stall to get a full-body shot, she would follow me. I think she likes me...<G> I know I'm falling in love with her! |

Rack‘n Jack in the Black Hi Gwen, Jack is Awesome!!!!! Last night he stayed out with the 2 year old and this morning he was just hanging out eating hay. He has had a lot of change in the last few days and I do not think he even missed a meal, he loves to eat and it shows as he is really built and in great shape. This morning I crossed tied him, conditioned his hair and trimmed his feet. Nothing seems to bother him, he just stood there and took it all in. He is very brave and curious. Then I took him for a walk, he walked right along and even gaited a few steps, WOW. I love him!!!!! Thanks for everything. Thanks Mary |

Gwen, We named her Moonlight's Covergirl because she is just so beautiful with such near perfect conformation. That in itself would be enough to make us really love her but---then you add in her temperament, loving attitude, curious nature, and fearlessness and you have what I consider the perfect horse (and all of this in a weanling) who can only get better with time and more training.
The whole family loves her and looks forward to seeing her every morning at feed time. She is just as glad to see us every day! Moon lets you know that she appreciates and loves you every day. I wish I could just express to you how different this baby is to the other foals I have been around. I guess it is just easiest to say that she tries her best to do anything you ask of her and she trusts you in any new experience you expose her too.
I love all of my horses and they are all really great horses but I have to say that Moon is just a bit different because she is (even more) super easy to train and love! Thanks Gwen for the chance to have Moon in our lives! ~ Stephanie John |
