Flying Horse Ranch

The Farm

Flying Horse Ranch welcomes you to our website!

We are a small breeding farm in South Central Kentucky that specializes in Tennessee Walking Horses and Paso Finos with the whole package.  We had gotten into Paso Finos first and were pleased by their willing, almost human-like nature.  We broke and trained several of them ourselves, and they made exceptional trail horses.  Not only did they have the smooth gaits that are the signature of the Paso Fino breed, the horses were surprisingly easy to train, had hooves that were as hard as nails (such that shoes were not necessary) and were easy keepers.

We knew that Tennessee Walking Horse was the predominant gaited horse breed in our area, so we decided to go on the quest for the perfect Walking Horse.  We rode a few along the way, and several did not impress us!  Some trotted or paced, and they were much more spirited than any Paso we had ever ridden.  We knew there were good ones out there and began to research bloodlines, taking advice from long-time pros in the business.

In our breeding program, we have chosen quality mares and tried to ideally match each mare with a proven stallion.  Our mares are carefully selected and have met our requirements for temperament, natural gait, pedigree, beauty, hardiness and ability to produce a quality foal.  We demanded the same criteria when choosing stallions for our mares - stallions who are proven, either by show record or in foal production.

We at Flying Horse Ranch pride ourselves in the diligent care we provide our animals and the selective nature of our breeding program.  We tend to strive for horses with old, proven lines, but occasionally will breed to newer sires that we feel would make an exceptional cross.

Additionally, we feel that color is the icing on the cake.  We strive to get color if possible.  However, our first and foremost priority is to produce quality animals that will excel in any discipline that you chose.

Alen's Tuff Legacy Gypsy

Here is our latest acquisition, 'Gypsy'.  She came from a close friend breeder who is a  highly respected for having good minded, well gaited and personable spotted foals.  I met this filly's sire the fall of 2010 and marveled at how sweet  he was and how much he resembled our stallion in looks an temperament.  Unfortunately, this herd sire was lost early this year due to a freak accident but his significant  contribution  will live on in his such get  as this filly!   As soon as I saw her hit the ground, i knew that she was meant to come to our farm. Alen's legacy will live on and this is how she got her name.
